Arizona’s Illegal Immigrants Blessed by the Supreme Court

Standard

The U.S. Supreme Court decided today that illegal immigrants in Arizona have very little to worry about! Should they be stopped by the police for such things as traffic violations, they can be asked about their immigration status but they can’t be detained. Also, according to the absurd logic of Justices Kennedy, Breyer, Ginsburg, Sotomayor and (surprisingly) Chief Justice John Roberts, illegal immigrants don’t have to carry any kind of documentation and can feel free to seek and obtain employment without worrying about being arrested by city, local or state police.

In comments from the bench, Justice Antonin Scalia described the majority’s refusal to allow the state to enforce Federal Immigration laws as mind boggling. Indeed it is! Federal law always overrides state law! Logic dictates that states should be at least encouraged (if not required) to enforce the law of the land — but then, as most of us have figured out, logic does not have a place in Federal law or, apparently, in Supreme Court decisions.

Illegal immigration to the United States is being encouraged by UN-enforcement of Federal law. That is not just a frivilious alligation!

If the federal government will not enforce it’s own laws and will not allow states to enforce those laws and, beyond that, if illegal immigrants are given all of the benefits of American citizens (health care, food stamps, education and etc.) we are obviously encouraging illegal immigration to continue.

While, arguably, no one has done as much damage to the American economy as President Obama, illegal immigration must be in second place; it wastes our tax money and reduces employment opportunities for American citizens.

The worst thing the Federal government’s encouragement of illegal immigration does, however, is prove to American citizens that they are at the mercy of a cadre of hippocrites and cowards in Washington D.C..
